European progressive forces stand up for Cuba

Lisbon (Prensa Latina) The EuroFestivals 2023 of the leftist forces were the scene for explaining reasons, making development projections and telling the truth about Cuba, with which parties, trade union and youth organizations of Europe showed their solidarity.

A Cuban delegation headed by legislator and member of the Council of State Elier Ramirez attended the following festivals: the Avante in Lisbon, Portugal on September 1-3; ManiFiesta in Ostend, Belgium on September 9-10, and L’Humanité in Paris, France on September 15-17, all of them had been organized by the communist parties of those countries.

Thousands of people of all ages had participated in those multifaceted events to enjoy cultural, gastronomic, musical, theatrical, sporting, literary and historical expressions.

Visitors of those festivals not only could notice Cuban idiosyncrasy, but also they could be part of political debates, conferences and lectures on current international issues and solidarity in defense of a better world.

In those activities, participants demand everything from the lifting of sanctions against Syria, the establishment of a Palestinian State to the lifting of the U.S. government’s blockade against Cuba and the country’s removal from the U.S. list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

In each of the festivals, Ramirez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (CCPCC), set out Cuba’s stance by calling for the necessary unity of the advanced forces within the diversity, in key times for humanity that witnesses the birth of neo-fascism in several countries.

Ramirez was alongside Rolando Perez, PhD., scientific advisor of the BioCubaFarma Group; Belkys Lay, official of the CCPCC International Relations, and Martin Hacthoun, director of Communication and Image at Prensa Latina.

In their talks with the hosts at each festival, the Cuban delegation explained the country’s reasons and told the truth about Cuba including its potential to establish beneficial cooperation deals in several fields, including biotechnology.

In addition, they called to attend the International Tribunal against the Blockade to be held in Brussels in the third week of November, as well as other forums planned for 2024 in Havana, such as the event to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Operation Truth.
