“The battle against the forest fires in the north of the city is being carried out with all our capabilities, fortunately we have no injuries or deaths, but we have an affected fauna and flora. We all need to fight without panic,” Mayor Iván Ospina said.
About 100 units of Cali Fire Department are working to stop the fire and prevent it from reaching nearby houses. Also, the population contributes with firefighters and entities and supports also in making water supply human chains.
The fire was reported about 12 hours ago, but despite the efforts of firefighters, civil defense and relief agencies, the flames have spread.
Cali firefighters explained that weather conditions with winds of up to 30 kilometers per hour, and high temperatures are conditions which make it difficult to put out the fire.
