International Meeting on Documentary Heritage concludes in Cuba

Havana, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) The 3rd International Meeting on Preservation of Documentary Heritage: Experiences and Challenges concludes today, in this capital, after days of debate and exchange of experiences among professionals in the field.

The José Martí National Library (BNJM) in Cuba, venue of the event since September 18, includes, this Friday, a program of lectures starting with “From stones to cloud: about digital processing of lithographic stones in Havana,” by Ania R. Hernández of the Social Communication Faculty at the University of Havana.

Jeanne Drewes of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the United States, will present “Recording, Protecting, Remembering: Document Conservation Treatments.”

Then, the paper “Teaching Documentary Conservation. Two Views from University and Community Archives,” by Richard F. Solís, visual artist, conservator, and restorer, and director of Extension and Communication at the University of Chile’s Faculty of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The last minutes of Friday’s program is to read the report of the 3rd International Meeting on Preservation of Documentary Heritage, and the BNJM’s Director Omar Valiño will close the event.

The meeting, organized by the BNJM, promotes the exchange of experiences on preserving documentary heritage in national and international contexts, including conservation, restoration, digitization, and digital preservation.
