At a press conference, the spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Aringdam Bagchi, ratified the decision communicated on Thursday on the website of the state provider of consular service.
The reason is the inaction of the Government of Canada to the incitement to violence, which has created an environment that has affected the work of the Indian Embassy and Consulates there; that is why, the visa services have been suspended.
The measure will remain in place until the situation is regulated, Bagchi said.
He noted the Indian Government’s concern over public posters and other manifestations of attack and assassination threats, and other violent acts against Indian officials in Canada.
