Lopez Obrador says he will solve Ayotzinapa case before his term end

Mexico City, Sep 20 (Prensa Latina) Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador today reiterated his promise to conclude and clarify the massacre of the 43 Ayotzinapa normalistas before the end of his term in office.

To a question in his morning press conference at the National Palace for the ninth anniversary of the disappearance and murder of the 43 youngsters, the president recalled that this Wednesday he will hold a private meeting with the parents of the boys, although he did not give details of what he will discuss with them.

He did clarify that this is an information meeting so that there is no manipulation of the long and complex process in which military personnel from the time of President Enrique Peña Nieto, of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, are involved.

He said that it is not true that the current Army command has not delivered all the information it has on the matter, and stressed the word ‘all’ to indicate that they are not hiding anything.

He denounced that there are international organizations that have dedicated themselves to meddle, they have wanted to stain the investigation that we are doing, but there are advances, and insisted that the Ayotzinapa case will be solved before the end of his government and denied the campaigns against certain media.

He also rejected there was a break of contact with the parents of the Ayotzinapa normalistas because there is no reason and we have not failed them, we investigated, we reached conclusions, we have delivered all the information we have, we met with them, we informed them and we continue the investigation with the spirit of finding out everything whoever falls.

He said that the people of Mexico have many values, that is why they are so happy, and that is the greatest wealth of the country, honesty, and that is why we are in a moment of splendor, and that is what conservatism and those who aspire to return to the past cannot stand.

We have to look for a new current of thought, as José Martí used to say, not only to look for material welfare, but also for the welfare of the soul, and that is what we are doing, he pointed out.
