The president of Cuba welcomed his Angolan “esteemed brother” at the Palace of the Revolution last night, in what he called on social networks as a “fraternal reencounter” .

“This visit expresses Angola’s commitment to the Group of 77 and China, to the community of Southern countries, and we also value it as an expression of support to Cuba, which holds the rotating presidency of that organization,” Díaz Canel wrote, and reiterated the importance of Angola’s presence at the G77 Summit, which begins this Friday in Havana, for the leadership that Angola has on the African continent and for all the experiences it can contribute.

The Summit is dedicated to discuss how to address global problems from the perspective of science, technology and innovation, and in this context the president of Cuba considered that the participation of the African continent, and Angola in particular, is a strength.

Díaz-Canel thanked Lourenço for the courtesy shown during his recent visit to Luanda, the treatment and the facilities that allowed him to carry out an extensive program of activities.

He considered that his trip to Angola strengthened his commitment to everything that Cuba can continue to contribute for the advancement of relations and ratified the will to continue working together to expand cooperation ties in all possible areas.

President of Angola João Lourenço, who will speak at the Summit of heads of State and Government of the Group of 77 and China, said that it is “a great pleasure” to be in Cuba, which means a lot for Angola because “it has always been together to us, mainly in the most difficult moments.”

He stressed that Angolans can never forget that, and described the visit of Díaz Canel to Angola as a reaffirmation of the “indestructible” ties of collaboration that exist between both nations.
