Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister to attend G77+China Summit in Cuba

Addis Ababa, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen will participate in the G77+China Summit, to take place in Cuba on September 15-16, it was announced on Wednesday.

Mekonnen will head the Ethiopian delegation to the Summit, the Cuban Embassy confirmed on its account on X, formerly Twitter.

‘This event is an opportunity to work together for the unity of the Southern countries,’ the post added.

Cuba will chair the G77+China Summit and from that position it has invited the members of the organization to hold talks in Havana on the theme “Current Challenges of Development: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation.”

Delegations from more than 100 nations are expected to participate.

According to the program, after the opening ceremony chaired by President Miguel Diaz-Canel, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will also deliver a speech and the general debate will continue.
