In a press release, the parliamentarian said that his country seeks to strengthen the Brics group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) with its inclusion and considered as ‘very important’ the support of the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, to carry out the necessary steps to join this bloc.
He estimated that this step would contribute to make a difference ‘as opposed to the current dialectics of the world market’. The inclusion of a country like Venezuela in the Brics ‘would be beneficial’ because it would strengthen this important world economic bloc, he considered.
Rodriguez pointed out that Venezuela could perfectly integrate this enlarged group by highlighting that it possesses the ‘largest proven world reserves of oil, gas and many critical and strategic minerals’.
Last month, at its annual summit held in South Africa, the integration mechanism of emerging economies approved the admission of six new members starting in January 2024: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Iran.
