It stated that within the framework of the 3rd Agustino Mañutzi International Festival, Actopan Mayor Tatiana Angeles Moreno presented Aleida with that symbol of honor, as the program of the famous festival includes a tribute to her father, who lived in Mexico together with Fidel and Raul Castro.

Aleida Guevara, a pediatrician by profession, narrated in her message of gratitude that her mother told her and her siblings that they were going to receive many things “perhaps for being Che’s children, from people who love, admire and respect him.

She said that she wanted to share the keys to the city of Actopan with the entire Cuban people, and pointed out that although she learned a lot from the legacy and example of her father, her mother, Aleida March, helped her to be a socially useful woman for the people.

She commented that receiving the keys to the city of Actopan is “something very great for me, but I want to commit, as a pediatrician, to spending a few days next year in Actopan, not visiting or talking, but working as a doctor, I will do it with great pleasure.”

People are really important when they are capable of being useful to other human beings; That does give us extraordinary value, it makes us feel complete as human beings, she added.

Aleida revealed that she has attended to people in difficult places, where there are social conflicts such as Nueva Italia, Michoacán, but that she would like to learn more about Actopan, as a city of culture, “which is not only about singing, dancing or reciting a poem.”

Culture is what allows us to be aware of who we are, where we want to go and how to do it, and it is forged little by little among all people, she stressed.

She also was also acknowledged as a “distinguished visitor” from Actopan councilors.

In the morning, as part of the festival, a documentary on the life and historic significance of Ernesto Che Guevara was screened.
