The diplomat reported on Telegram that Lavrov discussed bilateral, regional and global issues with Hasina, and later paid tribute to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation.
Zakharova recalled that Lavrov’s two-day working visit to Bangladesh is the first by a Russian foreign minister to Bangladesh.
Lavrov met with his counterpart, Abul Kalam Abdul Momen, with whom he discussed the prospects for the future development of bilateral relations, and exchanged views on the latest regional and international issues.
The Foreign Minister arrived in Dacca, the capital of Bangladesh, from Jakarta, Indonesia, where he attended the East Asia Summit, an event in which Russia participates as a partner nation.
Following his working visit to Bangladesh, Lavrov will depart for India to head the Russian delegation at the Summit of the Group of 20.
