The event opened its doors on the grounds of the National Library in Ramallah under the title “From the Nakba to the State”.

The Nakba (catastrophe, in Arabic) refers to the expulsion of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from their lands in 1948, following the creation of Israel.

In his speech, Shtayyeh noted that the Nakba meant the loss of much of historic Palestine and led 950,000 people, who became refugees in many countries, to be displaced.

Palestine was the gateway to the Arab renaissance and culture, in the cities of Jaffa, Haifa, Jerusalem and Safed numerous cinemas, theaters, libraries and radio stations radiated knowledge, he stressed.

Representatives from manifold nations including Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Italy, United Kingdom and Canada will also attende the majestic event.
