CubaCoop President Victor Fernández told Prensa Latina that French Communist Party National Secretary Fabien Roussel, Parliamentary leader André Chassaigne, MEP Manu Pineda, and Communist Party of Spain President José Luis Centella, among other figures, will participate in various events during the festival, which attracts hundreds of thousands of people to Paris every year, and which is scheduled from September 15-17.
On the Cuban side, lawmaker Elier Ramírez, Ambassador to France Otto Vaillant, Ambassador to UNESCO Yahima Esquivel, First Vice President of the National Sports Institute Raúl Fornés, and Cuban Olympic Committee President Roberto León Richards will participate in forums and meetings organized by the association.
Solidarity associations from Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy and Sweden will be represented at the forum.
CubaCoop will host the second European meeting against the US blockade against Cuba at the stand it shares with the Cuban newspaper Granma.
The first European meeting, held last year, addressed the extraterritoriality of the blockade and its impact on European banks, companies and citizens, an initiative that led to a petition to the European Parliament to act against Washington’s unilateral policy.
The French Communist Party confirmed that it will launch a solidarity campaign with Cuba and against the US blockade during the festival, an initiative approved during the organization’s 39th Congress in April.
