Colombian Government and ELN talks are expected to be a success

colombia-paz
Caracas, Sep 4 (Prensa Latina) Colombian Senator Iván Cepeda, who is part of the government delegation at the talks with the National liberation Army (ELN), said on Monday that the fourth cycle of peace talks concluded successfully with major agreements in Caracas, Venezuela.

“Humanitarian zones where there will be an intervention not only of a humanitarian nature, but also through development projects that will embody many of the peace agreements that the Table is reaching, are being created” he added.

Among them, he mentioned the participation of society in the construction of peace, the bilateral cease-fire and the active intervention of citizens, communities and the business sector in what we have called social participation and the construction of the great national agreement.

“The peace process is strengthened, the talks making progress, as well as the agreements with the National Liberation Army,” the senator of the Historic Pact emphasized.

This phase of dialogue began last August 14, with the parties’ conviction on the transcendence of society’s participation in this process and transformation as a basis for peace and a national agreement.

Among the most important agreements so far are the creation of the National Participation Committee, installed on August 3, and the bilateral cease-fire for six months throughout Colombian territory, which came into force on the same day.
