The event will take place at 6:00 p.m., local time, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Directed by Juan Carlos Tabío (1943-2021), the Cuban film brings together renowned artists including Rosita Fornes (1923-2020), Isabel Santos, Mario Balmaseda (1941-2022) and Manuel Porto (1945-2021), and tells the story of a woman who moves to a new neighborhood to improve her daughter’s social position.
The feature film won the Third Coral Award at the 1984 Latin American International Film Festival in Havana, and Santos was awarded as the Best Female Performance category.
Tabio is recognized for his prolific work and for titles including Lista de Espera, Plaff, Fresa y chocolate (directed by Tomas Gutierrez Alea), Aunque estés lejos and El Cuerno de la abundancia.
