“Dear Comrade Vo Van Thuong, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of Vietnam’s independence. Russian-Vietnamese relations are based on good traditions of friendship and mutual respect,” Putin said through the statement.
He emphasized that the two countries have established ” productive cooperation in various spheres and constructive interaction in international affairs”.
The leader also expressed confidence that through joint efforts, Russia and Vietnam will further strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership for the benefit of their respective peoples in the interests of ensuring security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
“I wish you health and success, and all your compatriots happiness and prosperity,” Putin concluded.
The Japanese occupation (1941-1945) ended on September 2, 1945 with the proclamation of Vietnam as an independent democratic republic.
Subsequently, for eight years (1946-1954), Vietnam defended its sovereignty in the First Indochina War, known in the Asian country as the Anti-French War of Resistance.
