G-77+China urges for sustainable breakthrough

United Nations, Sep 1 (Prensa Latina) The G-77+China, chaired by Cuba, urged Friday for the pivotal right to breakthrough, and the cessation of unilateral coercive measures as points to be discussed at forthcoming 2024 Summit.

Cuban Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso deemed worth noting for the G77+China, “closing the huge gap between developed and developing countries to move towards a common future of sustainable development, peace and respect for all human rights for all.”

By releasing the group’s statement, Pedroso insisted this includes access to breakthrough, in a context of human rights, dignity for every country and every people.

“Gaining gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls will further be crucial in the future we are willing,” the diplomat added at the session held by UN General Assembly (UNGA) for the adoption of the draft on the scope of the Summit of the Future.

The Cuban representative stressed the significance for the G-77+China of keeping the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as top-priority at the center of preparations for any outcome of the meeting.

The Summit of the Future, he said, should strengthen multilateralism to move towards a fairer, equitable, non-discriminatory and sustainable world that advances towards the prosperity of all countries, in line with the non-discriminatory and sustainable world that advances towards the prosperity of all countries, aligned with the UN Charter.

In this regard, Pedroso assured that a future world cannot be conceived without lifting and refraining from enacting and applying unilateral economic, financial or trade coercive measures that are not in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
