Lopez Obrador referred to his five-year administration’s achievements and construction works, including citizen security, the president made a noteworthy acknowledgement to the Secretariats of the Army, the Navy and the National Guard for their invaluable participation in the attrition of federal crimes and in the collaboration of civilian projects.

The head of State underscored that intentional homicide hits the country the hardest with a very high percentage coming from organized crime and killings between gangs or vendettas. Notwithstanding, intentional homicide has dropped since 2018 by 24%; robbery, 27%; vehicle theft, 40% and kidnapping, 80%.

The leader praised the advances of the National Guard and the growing troops, but pointing out his stance this armed body remains under the guidance of the National Defense Secretariat, where they were trained to guarantee peace and public safety.

Lopez Obrador recalled that both Secretariats have been the big supports in public safety and civil protection, customs, ports and airports sanitation. They were also the builders of the new international airport, the Mayan Train, the Dos Bocas refinery, 320 barracks, aqueducts, irrigation canals, roads and Petroleos Mexicanos’ reserves (PEMEX).

Likewise, both Secretariats aided in the Welfare Bank, the distribution and application of vaccines against Covid-19, the delivery of textbooks, the cleaning of beaches, especially in the state of Quintana Roo, where the Navy freed the beaches of sargassum.

The president announced again the Navy, which is in charge of customs, ports and airports, will further manage the recovered and rehabilitated national flag airline, Mexicana de Aviacion, which will be flying again very soon.

Instead of militarizing the country, as opponents say, we are demonstrating that the armed forces are the people in uniform, exemplary workers and patriots.
