Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) Some 7,000 students will attend university centers here in the 2023-2024 academic year, which will begin on September 4, Edelvis Bravo, rector of the University of Sancti Spiritus José Martí (Uniss), informed.

In a meeting with the press, he specified that the course is facing better conditions in terms of teaching infrastructure for the development in the three modalities of studies: regular daytime, meeting and distance.

He announced that within the framework of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of this center, a classroom specialized in Renewable Energy will be inaugurated soon, with first class technology, and the laboratories of Computer Engineering and Accounting and Finance will be improved.

A university welfare center will also be opened, where the different artistic manifestations will be present and the speech therapy and psycho-pedagogical offices will be located.

He explained that the high center receives students in the career of Forestry Engineering from the central provinces -Villa Clara, Ciego de Avila and Cienfuegos- and other territories of the country, he said.

Another of the specific advances -he said- is to have all the full-time professors with the support of professionals categorized as university professors in the different careers.

Regarding professors with academic values, he stressed that more than 60% have the title of assistants, who are advancing in their training as doctors.

On September 22, 1983, the first higher education center with its own institutional personality was founded in this city, which gave way to the University of Sancti Spíritus José Martí Pérez.
