La Paz, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian government is determined to combat internal corruption in the Special Force Against Drug Trafficking (FELCN).

The Minister of Government, Eduardo del Castillo, signed the cooperation agreement with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which provides for a 24-month work plan and the support of a million Euros.

The project, whose name is “Support in the fight against corruption in the FELCN” aims to develop risk management, strengthen ethics and integrity and reinforce the capacities of key actors in the penal system in the struggle against this scourge.

One of the purposes of the agreement is “to implement corruption risk management in order to identify and classify possible areas, processes and procedures vulnerable to corruption, so that we do not have elements involved dishonest gains”.

Del Castillo assured that the Executive of President Luis Arce is characterized by a determined fight against corruption and is taking all the necessary steps to combat it within the State. “We know how difficult it is, however, this gives us more strength not to give up and continue with this bitter crusade against violation of duty”, the Minister highlighted, and informed that the initiative will have financial support from the European Union.

The FELCN is the Bolivian police force that addresses drug trafficking, and as revealed on Tuesday by the minister in an extensive press conference, from 2020 to this day it has seized 628.65 tons of narcotics.
