China advocates for better economic ties with the US

Li Qiang-Gina Raimondo
Beijing, Aug 29 (Prensa Latina) China’s Prime Minister Li Qiang advocated a good economic relationship with the United States during a meeting with the US Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo.

During the talks, the Chinese side stressed that trade cooperation is not only beneficial to the two countries, but also to the whole world.

Raimondo, who arrived in China last Sunday, commented that there are areas of global concern such as climate change, artificial intelligence, and the fentanyl crisis, in which both nations could work together to solve this problem.

The US official also held talks with the Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism, Hu Heping. According to her schedule, she must leave for Shanghai, where she will hold other meetings with authorities and businessmen.

After the meeting with Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao, Beijing and Washington announced new communication channels to resolve economic differences. They also created a working group made up of government officials at the deputy ministerial level and representatives of the commercial sector to seek solutions for specific business issues.

The task force will hold meetings twice a year, while Wang and her US counterpart have agreed to meet at least once a year. The two sides have also launched an information exchange mechanism on export controls, which will operate in accordance with their respective laws.

Beijing and Washington also agreed that experts from both countries will hold technical consultations on the protection of trade secrets and confidential business information, during the process of improving administrative licenses.
