According to the Forecast Center of the Cuban Institute of Meteorology, the phenomenon is located at 19.9 degrees North latitude and 85.8 degrees West longitude, which places it 135 kilometers east-southeast of Cozumel, Mexico and 235 kilometers to the South southwest of Cabo de San Antonio, in the Cuban province of Pinar del Río.
The tropical storm has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour with higher gusts.
The central pressure dropped to 996 hectoPascals and has now moved slowly east at only four kilometers per hour.
The areas of showers, rains and electrical storms associated with this system extend over the northwest of the Caribbean Sea, the Yucatan channel and the seas to the south of much of the country.
In the next 12 to 24 hours, this organism will continue to move slowly, gaining a little more organization and intensity.
The wide circulation of the system will keep the rainy areas very close to the national territory, so the probability of rainfall today remains high, particularly in the western half, where it can be strong and intense in some locations.
Special attention should be paid to rainfall, due to its persistence and intensity, mainly in the provinces of Pinar del Río, Artemisa and the special municipality of Isla de la Juventud, as well as the state of the sea south of the province of Pinar del Río and Isle of Youth.
