Ambassador Zhao Zhiyuan highlighted the development of a strategic partnership between the two countries, and education is one of the most important fields.

“An exciting education makes an exciting country. Thanks to the combined efforts and great contribution of generation after generation of Chinese and Ethiopians, the relationship between our two countries has been promoted to the current high level of long-term traditional friendship,” Zhiyuan stressed.

The statement mentioned the firm belief that the scholarship program is a vivid example of the implementation of Global Development and Global Civilization initiatives proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The ambassador also congratulated Ethiopia on its membership in the BRICS group announced on Thursday during the group’s 15th Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The head of Scholarships and Internationalization of the Ethiopian Ministry of Education, Idossa Terfassa, thanked the free scholarships assigned, and expressed her wish that more Ethiopian students may have that opportunity, and that educational cooperation programs increase in number, as they will lay a solid foundation of human resources for the promotion of bilateral relations to a higher and more mature level.
