López Obrador to give government report on September 1 in Campeche

Mexico City, Aug 25 (Prensa Latina) Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced Thursday that he will give his annual government report in Campeche on September 1, and on September 8 will leave in a visit to Colombia and then Chile.

In his Thursday press conference at the National Palace he said he will deliver the report at 10 am and in the afternoon the text will be delivered to Congress as it is always done.

When the ceremony is over, he informed, we are going to get on the Mayan train and make a supervision tour without guests, only with the owners of the companies that have a stake in the project to reaffirm commitments.

The supervision tour will be on the stretch from Campeche to Merida, and the following day from there to Cancun. In addition to the company executives, the governors of Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo will be present, as well as the engineers in charge of the works.

They will also review the progress of the construction of the Tulum airport, which is already 75 percent complete, and will also examine everything related to the rescue of Mexicana Airlines after so many years of non-operation.

As for the visits to Colombia and Chile, he said that they will leave on Friday the 8th first to Colombia to discuss cooperation for the development of the two countries and fighting drug trafficking and drugs.

He explained there will be a meeting beforehand with specialists from different parts of the country to analyze the problem of drug trafficking and drug consumption in Colombia, and they will give us their conclusions.

From there, he said, he will continue to Santiago de Chile where he will have only two activities, the ceremony at the Palacio de la Moneda for the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President Salvador Allende, and a meeting with Chileans who were refugees in Mexico during the fascist dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, returning that same day in the evening.
