Closing of Varadero Josone Festival honors to two Cuban artists

Matanzas, Cuba, Aug 24 (Prensa Latina) The performances at the Varadero Josone Rumba, Jazz & Son Festival at Sauto Theater in this city paid tribute to two great artists of Cuban culture, Celina González and Carilda Oliver Labra.

On Wednesday evening, the Sauto Theater experienced an extraordinary moment when, amid the performance of the Failde Orchestra, the poem “Me desordeno amor, me desordeno” (I Go Crazy, Love, I Go Crazy) written by Oliver Labra, known as the Bride of Matanzas, was recited as a song.

A few moments later, the song “Que viva Changó” (Long Live Changó), sung by Celina for years, stopped the audience and recalled the singer.

Celina González and Carilda Oliver Labra are illustrious daughters of this Cuban province whose art went beyond borders.

One of the protagonists of the evening, Ethiel Failde, director of the Failde Orchestra, told Prensa Latina that it was a pleasure to perform at the festival with a cast of significant musicians from several generations and different genres.

Orchestras such as Alaín Pérez, Alexander Abreu y Havana D’Primera, Elito Revé y Su Charangón, Issac Delgado, Los Van Van, Failde, Los 4, Maykel Blanco y su Salsa Mayor, and Los Muñequitos de Matanzas will perform at Josone Park in Varadero from this Thursday to Sunday.
