Russian troops repel attacks by Ukrainian units in Donetsk

Moscow, Aug 22 (Prensa Latina) Elements of Russia’s Western grouping repelled six attacks by the Ukrainian army in the Donetsk sector of the frontline, the group's spokesman, Yaroslav Yakimkin, reported.

As reported by the spokesman on his official Telegram channel, during the fighting the enemy lost more than 40 soldiers belonging to the 14th, 67th and 115th mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Yakimkin further reported that the assault units of the Western group continued the offensive in the vicinity of the Olshana settlement.

The aviation attached to the group conducted 12 airstrikes against enemy reserves of the 14th and 44th separate mechanized brigades and territorial defense units.

Two M109 Paladin self-propelled howitzers were destroyed in the vicinity of the Pesochnaya and Shevtsov Yar settlements, and two mortar batteries were eliminated in the vicinity of the Krakhmalnoye and Tabaevka villages as a result of counter-battery fire, Yakimkin added.
