According to the agency, Beijing’s imports and exports with the other BRICS members expanded 19.1 percent year-on-year up to 2.38 trillion yuan (about 330.62 million U.S. dollars) during the first seven months of the year.
Exports grew 23.9 percent on-year and imports rose 14.3 percent from 2022.
Trade with these countries accounted for 10.1 percent of China’s total foreign trade in the first seven months, which translated into an increase of 1.6%.
The data is published ahead of the next Summit of the bloc, which will take place from August 22nd to 24th in Johannesburg under the theme “BRICS and Africa: partnership for mutually accelerated growth, sustainable development and inclusive multilateralism”.
The group stands out for its proposals in favor of a new global governance and a multilateral financial architecture, hence the interest it generates in other emerging economies.
According to authorized sources, 23 countries have officially expressed their desire to join the BRICS: Algeria, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Morocco, Nigeria, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Vietnam.
