“We made progress in a project that many believed would not work, but today we are verifying a great reality, practically the beginning of tests of the lithium carbonate production plant,” Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy Franklin Molina said.
He explained that the progress in the work of the state-owned Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB) demonstrates the commitment of the Government of Luis Arce, which has spared no time or resources to bring this work to completion.
He added that this is an important moment because lithium carbonate, electromobility and energy transition are inherent themes of a nascent industry that will generate incomes, and direct and indirect jobs in the region of Llipi, Potosí.
He pointed out that the development strategy includes “other projects such as lithium carbonate plants with Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology and brine recovery to increase production capacity,” Molina said.
He explained that in a prudent time, when all the equipment starts operating and the tests -essential before the productive start-up- are done, the plant’s functionality and operation stage will begin.
