China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Washington often presents “threats” to contain and oppress other countries to ensure its supremacy, seek selfish gains, and fulfill its geopolitical agenda.
The Foreign Ministry rejected the 2023 Biodefense Posture Review, released by the US Department of Defense recently, which identifies China as an essential long-term threat and questions Beijing’s compliance with international regulations on biological warfare.
When biosecurity threats are concerned, the United States is the most active and suspicious country in conducting bio-military activities. That nation has never given a meaningful response to the international community’s concerns, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin said.
Wang also questioned Washington’s refusal to establish a biological weapons verification mechanism while other countries have agreed to do so.
