Restoring those ties is part of the results of a visit to Nepal by Yue Ande, Major General of the Tibet Military Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, as reported by the spokesman for the Nepalese army, Brigadier General Krishna Prasad Bandari.

The ministerial ties between the two armed forces, the national defense courses in China and other commitments will be resumed, Bandari said.

The Chinese officer arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday on a five-day official visit, and met with Army Chief of Staff General Prabhu Ram Sharma as part of his program, the spokesman said.

The Nepalese army spokesman assured that the presence in Nepal of Chinese General Yue Ande shows the resumption of traditional military ties between the two States.

The Army of Nepal will soon send officers to China to follow the National Defense Course, the spokesman added.

The eight-member Chinese delegation toured the Nepalese Army Command and General Staff College and other military facilities, The Kathmandu Post reported.

Nepal and China have been carrying out joint military exercises at the platoon level since 2017, that is, on a smaller scale compared to those carried out by the Nepalese army with India and the United States, the news outlet said.
