Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Uruguay are the beneficiary countries of this segment, included in the event known as Zinemaldia, which in its 71st edition will receive numerous international filmmakers.
The Forum will be held from September 25 to 27 and is part of the Industry activities of the San Sebastian Festival.
The projects chosen are Agua caliente, by Mexicans Juan Pablo González and Ana Isabel Fernández de Alba; El Mensaje, by Argentinean Iván Fund; Estoy bien, by Chilean Alicia Scherson; Fauna, by Uruguayan Federico Veiroj; La reserva, by Argentinean Ezequiel Yanco; and Little War, by Argentinean Bárbara Sarasola-Day.
In addition, Los días libres, by Argentina’s Lucila Mariani; Mil pedazos, by Chile’s Sergio Castro San Martín; Ninho Tinto, by Brazil’s Alice Stamato and Venezuela’s Val Hidalgo; Nostalgia for the Future, by Uruguay’s Florencia Colman; Okonomiyaki, by Brazil’s Gabe Klinger; Todo esto eran mangas, by Italy’s Daniela Abad.
Other selected films include Tres balas, by Dominican Génesis Valenzuela; Tres noches negras, by Spain’s Theo Court; and Un cabo suelto, by Uruguay’s Daniel Hendler.
Seven of the 15 projects will be the first or second films by their directors. Returning to the San Sebastian Festival are Juan Pablo González and Ana Isabel Fernández; and Sergio Castro San Martín, who was already selected at the Forum with El gol más triste (2017).
This section of the event in Donostia, as the city is also called, will feature the awards for Best Project, endowed with 10,000 euros for the majority producer of the winning project; DALE! (Development Latin America-Europe): awarded by the European Film Agency Directors Association (EFAD) and the Conference of Ibero-American Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities, with 20 thousand euros.
Also, the ArteKino International Award, granted by the ARTE channel, consisting of six thousand euros for the majority producer of the winning project.
