Fidel Castro’s internationalist legacy is evoked in France

Paris, Aug 13 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba Linda association on Sunday recalled the internationalist thought and action of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016) on his 97th birthday.

In a statement, the association noted in particular Cuba’s support for the struggles of the African peoples for their independence and their role in the defeat of apartheid in South Africa under Fidel’s leadership.

It highlighted the legacy of the Cuban statesman in search for a multipolar world and justice, in which imperial dictates, looting and suffering in the South cease. As a tribute to that legacy, the association, created in 1998 to bring the French and Cuban peoples closer, highlighted Cuba’s presidency of the Group of 77 plus China this year.

“Despite the economic war and the infamous blockade imposed by the United States, Cuba is at the heart of this emerging multipolar world. The Cuban Revolution shows the path chosen by Fidel, a path of dignity, peace and cooperation among peoples,” the association stressed.
