Nicaraguan group rejects U.S. blockade against Cuba

Tegucigalpa, Aug 11 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan Anti-imperialist Network of Solidarity with the Peoples Augusto C. Sandino, rejected on Friday the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

In a statement read within the framework of the 3rd Central American Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, the Network called for the end of Washington’s unilateral measure.

The group added that the economic blockade, tightened with over 240 measures under Donald Trump’s term, has caused serious damage to the Cuban people, and it is contrary to the principles of the UN Charter and International Law.

Meanwhile, the group praised the thoughts of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro on the 97th birth anniversary to be commemorated on August 13.

In this regard, the Network described such a date as special for Latin America and the world, since on the same day, but in different years, Fidel Castro was born in Cuba and Tomas Borge in Nicaragua.
