Russia to display Yars and Avangard missiles at Army Forum 2023

Moscow, Aug 10 (Prensa Latina) Russia will exhibit the RS-24 Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles and the Avangard hypersonic glide vehicle at the Army 2023 military forum, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Colonel General Sergei Karakayev, announced.

The officer told the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper that the Yars ICBM will be exhibited for the first time at the forum as a symbol of the rearmament of the Strategic Missile Forces.

Karakayev noted that the new Avangard hypersonic missile will also be on display for the first time. “It can be said with complete certainty that the new weaponry will be the center of attraction at the static display,” he added.

The Avangard ICBM is said to be capable of circumventing both existing and future anti-missile defenses. Unlike traditional warheads, which follow a ballistic trajectory, the Avangard glides in the dense layers of the atmosphere, at extreme altitudes and at a speed that exceeds that of sound more than 20 times.

The ninth edition of the Army 2023 forum will take place in the town of Kubinka, in the outskirts of Moscow from August 14 to 20.
