According to CCTV channel, the incident occurred in Yucheng district at around 09:00 hours, local time, when a group of tourists were taking pictures at a checkpoint next to the river.

Videos taken at the time of the incident show that 11 people were swept away by the river’s current, four of whom were successfully rescued.

The investigation into the causes of the accident is still ongoing, although some preliminary reports attribute the flooding to the overflow of the river, which overtopped the containment structures.

In recent days, China has reported several natural disasters in different areas of the country, due to the heavy rains and floods that have been affecting the national territory for over a week.
