Iran and Cuba celebrate 44 years of diplomatic relations

Tehran, Aug 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Ambassador to Iran, Alberto González Casals, celebrated the 44th anniversary of the beginning of relations between both countries on Tuesday.

“Today, August 8, marks 44 years of uninterrupted diplomatic relations between Iran and Cuba,” the Cuban diplomat wrote on his page on social media X, formerly known as Twitter.

Casals described the relations between the two States as “relations of friendship and cooperation for the benefit of both peoples.”

In May 2022, the two States held the 18th Session of the Iran-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission in Tehran to reactivate ties in economic, commercial, financial, and cooperation matters.

Due to that meeting, government representatives from both parties signed 13 high-level agreements in the energy, agricultural, banking, and industrial sectors.

Cuba and the Islamic Republic of Iran have maintained uninterrupted diplomatic relations since August 8, 1979.
