Ayed Abu Qutaish, director of the NGO, issued statements to the Voice of Palestine radio station explaining that 160 minors are imprisoned in Israeli jails.
Abu Qutaish stressed that the murder and arrest of infants and young people has intensified in an unprecedented way. He also criticized the international community for not providing protection to this sector of the population or holding Israel accountable for its crimes.
In June, Defense for Children International highlighted, based on its research, that members of the Israeli military systematically target the upper parts of the body when shooting Palestinian children with the intent to kill or maim.
The organization stressed that the occupying troops use lethal force against minors in circumstances that amount to extrajudicial executions or premeditated murder.
That same month, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned Israeli brutality against minors in the occupied territories.
“Israel is not only killing Palestinian children, it is depriving them of their basic human rights, hindering their access to education, forcibly removing them from their homes, detaining and torturing them, and denying them their right to life,” it said.
