Cuban institution promotes dialogue on Peruvian Amazonian women

Havana, Aug 4 (Prensa Latina) Havana-based Casa de las Americas is promoting dialogue on women's literary production in the Peruvian Amazon region, a favorable meeting to talk with different female authors and launch books published by Yara Ediciones publisher, it was reported on Friday.

Participants will learn about the work of different Amazonian female writers from the 21st century and the themes addressed by those who make up the short story book “El Vuelo de tu Mirada” (The Flight of Your Gaze).

Topics such as the treatment of female characters by authors from the city of Pucallpa and the presence of women in the oral tradition of this territory, among other features of interest, will be discussed.

Rubia Melissa Mendieta, Salvith Rodríguez, Gabriela Johnson, Melissa Valentina Vecco, Elsa Angulo, and Jeanett Sonia Igarza are among the female authors who will attend the debates.

It will be an opportunity to launch the poetry collection “Tercera Piel” (Third Skin) and the books “Cuentos para Crecer: Las Mujeres como Protagonistas” (Tales to Grow: Women as Protagonists), “El Vuelo de tu Mirada”, “Cuentos de la Tarde” (Tales of the Afternoon), and “Obituario” (Obituary) to draw attention to Amazonian female writers.
