The Cuban leader tweeted his country is hopeful about this stage leading to the definitive cessation of hostilities, and reiterated Cuba is deeply committed to help reaching peace in Colombia.

On Wednesday, the UN Security Council (UNSC) approved the extension of the Verification Mission’s mandate, pointing out that it ought to monitor the ceasefire set froth in the 2nd Agreement between the Colombian government and the ELN, held on June 9 in Cuba.

To this end, the UNSC authorized a rise of up to 68 additional international observers.
