Both institutions organized a solidarity rally and a film screening for the diplomatic corps accredited in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Present at the event were Ri Chang Sik, vice chairman of the Education Committee and chairman of the Korean Committee for Solidarity with Cuba, as well as officials and workers from Pyongyang.
Ri stated that the righteous shot fired by the Cuban revolutionaries in the Moncada heroic deed under the leadership of Fidel Castro Ruz developed into a blaze of national rebelliousness and created for the first time a socialist State in the western hemisphere, overthrowing the pro-US dictatorial power.
The traditional friendly relationship between Korea and Cuba, firmly established in the common struggle for anti-imperialist independence and the realization of the cause of socialism, is developing today at a higher level thanks to the deep attention from dear Comrade Kim Jong Un and esteemed Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, he noted.
The member of the Cuban Embassy, Boris Perez, recalled that Cuba has maintained a policy of support for the DPRK in its efforts to build a prosperous socialist nation, for the achievement of lasting peace, reconciliation and stability on the Korean Peninsula and has strongly condemned the imposition of unilateral and unjust sanctions against Pyongyang and external interference in Korean affairs.
The diplomat expressed gratitude for the DPRK’s permanent support for Cuba’s struggle to have the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba lifted; and ratified the unwavering solidarity with the people and government of the DPRK, which continues to march along the victorious path of socialism.
