Defense Minister Li Shangfu congratulated the personnel of the Armed Forces, members of the military police, the reserve force, the militia, veterans, and others.

According to the minister, the military should strengthen the construction of the Communist Party of China, intensify the training of troops and improve combat readiness in the new era.

Li reiterated the willingness to perfect military governance, consolidate strategic capabilities and “unswervingly” advance the cause of national reunification. He also urged meeting the PLA’s centenary goals by 2027 and reaching world-class standards.

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently called for the early modernization of the armed forces during an inspection of an army unit. He also considered that strengthening comprehensive military governance plays a crucial role in China’s governance capacity.

The leader called on parliamentarians and other authorities to turn the army into a “great wall of steel that effectively safeguards national sovereignty, security and development interests.”

Following this, the government implemented sweeping reforms to transform the PLA into a modern fighting force.
