“We think that the restoration of peace responds to the interests of humanity, as well as the interests of Russia and Ukraine. The conflict must be resolved peacefully,” Ramaphosa pointed out at a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the Russia-Africa Summit.

The president noted that all African countries support peace, and in many ways, his presence in Russia’s second city is proof of this.

“Africa is experiencing difficulties in connection with the Ukraine conflict, food and fertilizer prices are rising, we are interested in its quick end,” the South African leader added.

He noted that the current meeting is a continuation of the African countries’ peacekeeping mission, which visited Russia and Ukraine in June. “We want to play an active role in finding ways to resolve the crisis in Ukraine, and we are ready to continue the dialogue,” he stressed.

According to Ramaphosa, African states seek the continuation of grain and fertilizer exports through the Black Sea. “The African countries are not applicants, they start from the fact that it is necessary to guarantee uninterrupted supplies,” the South African head of State pointed out.
