At the event, held at the José Martí traffic circle in this capital, Cuban diplomat Claudia Tejera thanked the Salvadorans and the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) for the tribute.
“We cannot fail to commemorate such an important date. Fidel is and will continue to be a beacon for Latin America, for the peoples of the world,” she said.
Other speakers, such as Carlos Castañeda and Miriam Díaz, members of the FMLN Political Commission, highlighted Cuba’s deed and example. The struggle of a people is shared with the struggle of other peoples, Castañeda noted.
The rally was attended by members of the FMLN Secretariat of Veterans, the Rafael Agüinada Inter-Union Coordinating Committee and the Salvadoran Unitary Federation of Trade Unions.
