Venezuela highlights Cuban people as example of resistance

Caracas, Jul 26 (Prensa Latina) What we have to thank the brother people of Cuba the most is the example of its men and women who never gave up, the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, highlighted today.

Closing the commemorative act for the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, the political leader exalted the similarities of the Venezuelan and Cuban Revolution, from which two giants like Hugo Chávez (1954-2013) and Fidel Castro (1929-2016) were born.

In a packed Simón Bolívar theater in Caracas, the also deputy to the National Assembly considered it an immense honor to be commemorating this important date for the “brotherly people of Cuba” and meant that July 26, 1953 was a day of battle that opened the doors for great victories.

Cabello pointed out that in Venezuela we have a lot to thank the Cubans for, thanks to “those two giants that were Fidel and Chávez” and pointed out that Cubans always sent the best men and women to this land, thanks to which Venezuelans learned to read and many were saved, including him, he said.

The first vice president of the PSUV expressed his conviction that the people who have contributed the most to defeating North American imperialism is that of Cuba and highlighted their honor and responsibility.

Let’s make every July 26 a historic date for world revolutions, he asserted, and stressed that this date not only belongs to Cubans, but also to Venezuelans.

He expressed that today he applauds with great force what someone said that “Cuba and Venezuela, a single flag”, it hurts whoever it may hurt, “we claim our friendship, our affection and respect”, he emphasized.

I thank Cuba for having given birth to Fidel and for having us as brothers and friends, and keep in mind that here you have “a brotherly, friendly people ready for whatever, whenever and against whomever.”

At the event, which was attended by deputies, authorities from Caracas, representatives of the accredited diplomatic corps, friends of solidarity, Cuban collaborators and members of the Mission, deputy Edgardo Ramírez highlighted the presence of many young people at the event.

The president of the Venezuela-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group said that the Centennial Generation was organized to raise Our American ideas of the Apostle José Martí, of whom, he said, he was a lover of the ideas of independence of the liberators of America and an infinite Bolivarian.

Luis García, business manager of the Havana embassy in Caracas, argued that, 70 years after those events, we can affirm that the Moncada dream is a reality and always encourages us not to forget history.
