According to Xinhua news agency, Wang Yi, who also serves as head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission, made this call while attending the 13th Meeting of the BRICS of National Security Advisers and Senior Representatives on National Security.

At the Johannesburg meeting, the minister urged efforts to eliminate conflicts, build peace and reach a balanced and effective security architecture.

He also stressed the pressing need to foster new engines of global growth and emphasized that developed countries must seriously honor their aid commitments in order to deliver more benefits all peoples.

Wang Yi expressed Beijing’s opposition to ideological confrontation and reiterated support for the pursuit of development paths appropriate to each state’s national conditions.

The foreign minister also rejected hegemony and power politics, and called for respect for the role of the UN in international affairs.

In the new round of the global governance system reform, voice and representation of global South countries should be expanded, he said.

Wang noted China’s interest in working on emerging markets and developing countries and jointly building a community with a shared future for humanity.
