Saint-Vil replaced Judge Chavannes Etienne, who in turn was transferred to the Court of Appeals of Port-au-Prince and declined to attend the inauguration of his replacement.
In the middle of this month, the coordinator of the National Network for the Defense of Human Rights, Pierre Espérance, criticized the certification by the Superior Council of the Judiciary of judges who, in his opinion, are “corrupt and untouchable”.
Among them, he mentioned Saint-Vil, who in recent years was at the head of the court of this capital, and his colleague Mathieu Chanlatte.
Other criticisms refer to their alleged interference of media files such as the one on the embezzlement of the treasury and to the lack of progress in high-level investigations.
