Talking to OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha via telephone about the recurring incidents of desecration of Quran in Sweden and other European countries, Zaradri reiterated his country’s condemnation of such acts, which he described as despicable and violations of international law.
He told the leader of the international body that the Pakistani parliament adopted a resolution on July 6 and there were demonstrations in the Islamic nation on July 7 after Friday prayers in rejection of such acts against the holy book of Muslims.
He also appreciated the OIC’s urgent response to the acts and praised the statement issued at an extraordinary meeting held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on the situation.
Zardari also welcomed the decision of the OIC to hold an emergency ministerial meeting on the issue and commented on talks with his counterparts from Iran, Saudi Arabia and Turkey in this regard.
