Head of Russia’s Security Council visits South Africa

Moscow, Jul 24 (Prensa Latina) The secretary of Russia’ Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, will begin an official visit to South Africa, according to the press service of that body.

Patrushev will participate in the 13th annual meeting of security officials in the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), according to the statement published by the Stass news agency.

Likewise, Patrushev will hold a meeting in the format of “The Friends of the BRICS” at the level of secretaries of the Security Councils and national security advisers, as reported.

The official stated that Russia is ready to further develop cooperation with the five countries in all fields, and assured that it highly appreciates the level and nature of the relations reached in the association, which fully respond to the interests of the five states.

The secretaries of the Security Councils of the BRICS countries traditionally meet before the summit of the leaders of the member nations.

The meeting of this will be held from August 22nd to 24th. Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the event via video conference, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in person, will represent Russia.
