By vast majority, TC´s members concluded that the new Act is in line with current Constitution, so there is no reason to modify the text approved by the National Congress on May 16.
Therefore, TC’s ministers dismissed the claims of big business, represented by the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), which challenged the initiative under the claim of alleged violations to the Constitution.
The act extends fines and imprisonment for banking and tax crimes, embezzlement of public funds and money laundering.
This new resolution is aimed at craqcking down on corruption and illicit enrichment; such law is applied not only to companies, but also to religious entities, political parties, corporations and state universities.
