According to a Syrian Defense Ministry statement, air defense assets intercepted some of the projectiles, while the impact of others also caused material damage.
This is the sixteenth attack carried out by Israel this year, the previous one occurred last July 1 against positions in the central province of Homs, about 200 kilometers north of this capital. Nine of these hostile actions were carried out against the capital of the country and its surroundings; three in the airport of Aleppo, in the north of Syria; one against the municipality of Messiaf, in the province of Hama, and five targeted the governorship of Homs.
Israel frequently attacks Syrian territory under the pretext of attacking Iranian targets, while Damascus claims that these clashes cause casualties among the civilian population, aim at prolonging the war, keeping the country unstable and weakening its national army.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry urged the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities under the Charter and to put an end to these Israeli aggressions.
