In a new report, covering the period from May to June, the UN agency denounced the restrictions imposed on women by the interim Afghan government.
Only male medical students would be allowed to take the ‘Supplementary Exit Examination’ to continue with specialized medical studies, the document reflects, the de facto Ministry of Public Health announced on May 3, 2023.
Unama noted that such a measure remains in place, in addition to previous prohibitions that prevented women from participating in medical school exit exams.
The report also recorded instances in which the authorities took measures to enforce previously announced limitations on women’s freedom of movement and labor participation.
